¶1.

The author of the communication is G.A., a national of the Syrian Arab Republic born in 1951. She claimed that, by removing her to the Syrian Arab Republic, the State Party would violate her rights under the Covenant (she did not invoke any specific articles).

¶2.

On 31 July 2023, pursuant to rule 94 of its rules of procedure, the Committee, acting through its Special Rapporteurs on new communications and interim measures, requested the State Party to refrain from removing the author to the Syrian Arab Republic while the communication was pending before the Committee.

¶3.

On 12 December 2023, the State Party informed the Committee that the author had been granted residence status in Denmark and requested it to discontinue its consideration of the communication. On 8 February 2024, the request for discontinuance was transmitted to counsel for comments, with a deadline of 8 March 2024. Counsel was informed that, if no comments were received by that date, the Committee might discontinue the communication. No comments had been received by 16 March 2026.

¶4.

On 16 March 2026, the Committee, in the light of the fact that the author had been granted residence status in Denmark, decided to discontinue its consideration of communication No. 4440/2023.
