The authors of the communications claim that the State Party violated their rights under article 11 (1) of the Covenant by evicting them without ensuring that they had alternative housing.
The Committee, through its Working Group on Communications, registered the communications and, in the case of communications No. 181/2020, No. 193/2020, No. 217/2021 and No. 218/2021, requested the State Party to take interim measures to suspend the eviction of the authors and their families pending the consideration of the communications or to provide them with adequate alternative housing, in genuine and effective consultation with them. With regard to communication No. 243/2021, the Committee, acting through its Working Group on Communications, decided not to accept the authors’ request for interim measures.
The State Party submitted its observations on the communications, which were transmitted to the authors, who provided their comments.
At its meeting on 14 February 2025, the Committee, having noted the withdrawal of the cases by the authors on the ground that they had been allocated accommodation in social housing, decided to discontinue its consideration of communications No. 181/2020, No. 193/2020, No. 217/2021, No. 218/2021 and No. 243/2021 in accordance with article 18 of its rules of procedure under the Optional Protocol.
